THE OFFICE OF VOLUNTARY SUB-WARDEN – THE HOLT HALL X 2
A promising opportunity has opened up in The Holt Halls of Residence for 2 individuals to commence a 12 month, fixed term sub-warden appointment. Applications for this career-building opportunity are invited from doctoral researchers only.
The Hall: The Holt Hall is an idyllic community just off-campus on Ashby Road. The Hall is unique in attracting undergraduate students to its Unite owned grounds enabling students to enjoy a more diverse community that prides itself with the best of both campus and town, as well as domestic and international students.
Duties: Sub-Wardens assist the Warden in the day-to-day running of the hall. This may involve pastoral, disciplinary and administrative duties as well as being involved in social aspects of hall life. The successful applicant will be part of a team which provides out-of-hours emergency cover in a hall of over 260 students, fostering a positive student experience.
Personal Attributes: Candidates must display a high level of personal organisational ability, excellent communication skills, good administrative ability, leadership qualities and be a good team player. Sub-Wardens are expected to demonstrate commitment to the community spirit of the Hall, spending roughly 14 hours of work towards the role on a weekly basis.
Accommodation and Catering Arrangements: Free accommodation is available throughout the year subject to the continual fulfilment of shifts. Typically, accommodation available for Sub-Wardens is only suitable for a single person. The Holt is a self-catered, however some meals are provided during term time through the diners+ scheme.
Get to Know the Role and Team: The successful applicant must be available to attend Sub-Warden training sessions as required (e.g. First Aid Training, Annual Sub-Warden Training), typically taking place across September.
