Description Job ID AF9431-1023-1679 Position Classification FT Administrator Position Summary The general purpose of this job is to contribute to meeting the goals and objectives of UDM’s TRiO Student Support Services Program. The Success Coach II will support the academic success of low-income and first-generation students. The Coach will meet with students regularly, help students develop individualized academic success plans, and provide academic coaching, mentoring and other direct services. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist students in transitioning to UDM. Work with students to develop an Academic Success Plan (ASP). Meet with students regularly to ensure progress on the established ASP. Work with students to address and manage personal, social, financial, and other non-academic issues which adversely affect academic progress and persistence. Contact with students by email, phone, and in person to discuss any identified concerns and modify the ASP accordingly. Act as a first responder to program participants identified as being at-risk for leaving UDM. Utilize the Beacon early warning tool to monitor student progress and to document all contacts with program participants. Conduct regular follow-up and evaluation of student progress and maintain communication with all interested parties. Work collaboratively with the TRiO and Student Success Center staff, as well as all relevant academic and student services offices. Assist with meeting annual reporting and other deadlines related to the TRiO Student Support Services grant program. Coordinating and participating in required grant activities and programming, such as visits to cultural institutions, speaker events, recognition ceremonies, and other University sponsored events. Other activities as assigned to support the retention of students to UDM. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Education – A college degree (A college degree and a professional certificate or graduate degree) Employment – Two years to five years (Equivalent combination of education and employment) Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree or equivalent in an appropriate discipline such as education, guidance counseling, psychology, social work or related field or working toward the completion of an advanced degree. Two years or more experience in an educational setting working with low-income, first generation, and students with disabilities. Proven ability to conduct academic workshops, coordinate tutoring and other programs and work collaboratively with academic oriented offices. Excellent written and oral communication skills. TRiO experience preferred. An applicant coming from a background similar to the program participants is preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Evidence of attendance at trainings focusing on academic oriented information such as first year experience, academic advising, students with disabilities, TRiO trainings and seminars on counseling. Physical Requirements Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds). Work Environment Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
