Description Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Field Technician assists the SUE team by designating and locating utilities to support all types of civil infrastructure projects including roadways, bridges, land developments, pipelines and more. Job Responsibilities Operate electromagnetic locators and land surveying equipment to designate underground utilities Operate vacuum excavation equipment to safely expose subsurface utilities Operate core drillers, jackhammers, saws and other relevant equipment as needed in the field Interpret utility records, GIS and other documents to create field reference exhibits Record field notes and communicate to project managers and engineers Coordinate with utility owners and engineers in the field Comprehend project details to understand utility data collection needs Operate survey and CADD software to accomplish tasks Promote safety as it pertains to field operation Requirements High school diploma or GED required 0 - 2 years of experience for SUE Field Technician level 1 or 2 - 4 years of experience for SUE Field Technician level 2 Valid Texas Driver's License Reliable transportation Ability to pass a drug test and background screen Ability to be active for extended periods of time in the heat and cold and changing weather conditions Ability to travel around Texas for up to a week at a time Overtime and weekend work may be required to complete tasks within project deadlines Willingness to learn from other staff Ability to be flexible due to weather and multiple project timelines Willingness to identify process and workflow improvements Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam, Inc.
