This is not a volunteer, internship, or shadowing experience—this is a paid job requiring a real commitment to scheduled shifts and responsibilities.  Time Commitment * Must be available to be scheduled at least sixteen (16) hours per week, for a minimum of four (4) consecutive weeks between May 1, 2026 and September 30, 2026.  * Hours are not guaranteed and are based on business need. Your schedule will be created based on the information you provide to us, when aligned to scheduling capacity. Seasonal employees are not guaranteed hours over regular staff. * Must be available to work at least one EVE Shift (5:00PM-8:30PM) per week and participate in weekend rotation.  General Requirements * Enrollment in or graduate of healthcare degree program or related field. Those taking a Gap Year are welcome to apply.  * Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced patient care environment. * Adherence to Capital Area Pediatrics immunization and testing requirements. * Ability to pass a required background screening.  * Must be able to follow universal precautions, OSHA standards, and HIPAA regulations to include maintaining patient confidentiality. * Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. * Basic knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA regulations preferred. * Ability to communicate effectively in English in both oral and written form. * Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure. * Ability to understand and follow instructions. Seasonal Patient Care Assistant (PCA) This position will provide administrative and/or basic clinical support at our clinical locations. Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  * Process patients during check-in and check-out. If necessary, collect insurance and registration information, as well as appointment scheduling. * Greet and escort patients to the exam room, gather patient history, measure vitals, and document all information in the patient’s medical chart. * Ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, and prepare sterilization as required. * Maintains patient files, records, and other information in a confidential manner. * Communicates effectively and courteously with and demonstrates a caring attitude toward patients and family. * Supporting business operations through administrative projects and tasks.  We are also accepting applications for Patient Care Assistants with an interest in Healthcare Administration to support our Central Business Office/Patient Resource Center this summer. Additional responsibilities of this location may include:  * If assigned to a reception area, greet and escort visitors as appropriate.  * Process patient forms requests including those for camp, school, and sports participation.  * Complete data entry within Athena, our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.  * Complete organizational and/or administrative projects as assigned. Seasonal Medical Assistant This role requires an active and verifiable medical assistant certification combined with either at least six (6) months of direct patient care experience as a Medical Assistant, or previous completion (sign off) of Capital Area Pediatrics MA training. Those who have previously completed MA training through Capital Area Pediatrics must be approved to work as a Seasonal Medical Assistant by the Director of Clinical Operations.  Examples of responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  * Review patient records for past medical problems, medication and immunization status, drug allergies, risk factors, and other pertinent information. * Interview patients and/or family members for appropriate information and obtain vital statistics indicated for the age, gender, and type of visit.   * Perform laboratory testing and administer vaccines, analgesics, and nebulization treatments in accordance with established standards and office policy. * Observe, document, and report to provider and nursing staff patient’s condition and reaction to drugs and treatments. * Complete applicable documentation for the patient visit. * Conducts basic parent and child education to include anticipatory guidance in accordance with office policy and as delegated by providers and nursing staff. * Role models excellent clinical skills with patients. * Communicate effectively and courteously while demonstrating a caring attitude toward patients and family.
