Description Gateway SRA is looking for warm, enthusiastic, and patient individuals interested in being an Activities Coordinator for children with special needs. Activity coordinators are individuals looking to develop career-building skills such as leadership, organization, planning, communication, problem-solving and relationship management abilities. A.C. develop and assist in the implementation of the curriculum for the day-to-day activities. These individuals plan weekly themes curated around campers with special needs. Creativity, flexibility, and knowledge of resources are a must in the development of activities. Duties: Leading and planning: Planning and implementing diverse activities for daily and weekly schedule like arts and crafts, sports, swimming, outdoor games, nature exploration, and themed programs based on age-appropriate interests with focus on fostering independent play, sensory play, group games and outdoor activities Planning activities, managing supplies, and maintaining a structured schedule Confidence in leading groups, motivating children, and making quick decisions Supervision and safety: Actively monitoring campers during all activities including mealtimes, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, and responding to any accidents or emergencies. Group management: Maintaining order and positive group dynamics, resolving minor conflicts, and providing guidance to campers. Communication: Regularly updating Site Supervisor on camper progress, addressing concerns, and maintaining open communication. Recordkeeping: Maintaining attendance logs, activity reports, and documenting incidents and behaviors Staff collaboration: Working effectively with other counselors and camp staff to deliver a cohesive program and a positive and inclusive camp environment Requirements Desirable Experience: Enjoys being in the company of children specifically with special needs Ability to participate in active outdoor and indoor activities and supervise children in a variety of settings Ability to educate and mentor campers in a fun and engaging manner Ability to work independently and with others Problem solver Communicate clearly with coworkers and campers, provide feedback, and address concerns to supervisors Patience and positive attitude and the ability to manage challenging situations with children and maintain a positive demeanor First aid knowledge basic understanding of first aid procedures to respond to minor injuries Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old or previous experience Ability to pass a background check First Aid and CPR (will provide training if needed) Benefits: Opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization Fun and rewarding work environment with the chance to make a positive impact on children's lives Providing kids, teens, and young adults with disabilities an unforgettable Summer Day Camp experience Schedule: Monday -Friday; 9-3:30 PM; June 1 - July 31, 2026
