Description Position Overview: Summer Camp Counselors serve as leaders, role models, and encouragers for younger students participating in our school’s summer programs. Counselors help create a fun, safe environment where campers can grow socially, emotionally, and spiritually. This role is ideal for high school students who enjoy working with children and desire to serve their school community. Reports To: Lead Counselor and Director of Camps & Programs Why This Role Matters Serving as a Summer Camp Counselor is an opportunity to: Grow in leadership, responsibility, and confidence Serve younger students in a meaningful way Gain valuable experience for future work, college, and ministry opportunities Key Responsibilities Camper Care & Supervision Supervise and actively engage campers during daily activities, games, and transitions Ensure the safety and well-being of campers at all times Build positive relationships with campers through encouragement, patience, and kindness Help campers feel included, valued, and respected Program Support Assist with the morning check in and afternoon pick up process Assist with leading games, crafts, sports, and other planned activities Help set up, clean up, and organize activity spaces Support classroom teachers and lead counselors as needed Follow daily schedules and instructions from camp leadership Spiritual & Character Leadership Model Christlike character in words, actions, and attitude Encourage positive behavior, teamwork, and respect for others Professional Conduct Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to serve each day Follow all school policies, camp rules, and safety procedures Communicate respectfully with campers, staff, and parents Maintain appropriate boundaries and behavior at all times Requirements Qualifications Required Current upper school student (rising 10th) through college age student A positive attitude and willingness to serve others Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team Dependable, responsible, and respectful Physical Requirements Ability to be active for extended periods of time Ability to participate in outdoor activities, games, and sports Ability to lift or carry light materials and equipment Training & Support Counselors will receive orientation and training prior to camp Ongoing guidance and supervision will be provided by camp leadership ________________________________________________________________________ Requirements All employees must commit to performing their duties in accordance with the stated mission and purpose of the school, CPA 101, CPA Policies and Procedures Manual, and the Westminster Confession of Faith.
