Job Summary: The Summer Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading fun, engaging, and educational activities for children in a group setting. Counselors ensure the safety, development, and well-being of all participants, fostering a positive and inclusive environment. Schedule: This is a part time position and the shifts are 6:45 am - 12:30 pm and 12:30 pm - 6:00 pm. Key Responsibilities Program Planning Develop, implement, and lead daily activities such as sports, arts and crafts, games, and field trips. Create and follow weekly activity schedules tailored to campers' age and skill levels. Encourage active participation and engagement from all campers. Safety and Supervision Maintain constant supervision to ensure the physical and emotional safety of all campers. Enforce facility rules and follow emergency procedures. Complete and maintain accurate records, including attendance logs and incident reports. Communication/Connections Develop positive relationships with campers, parents, and staff to personalize the camp experience. Address camper behavioral concerns with patience and professionalism, reporting serious issues to management. Handle camper or parent complaints, comments, and suggestions positively; report concerns as necessary. Maintain open communication with other counselors and supervisors. Teamwork and Professionalism Work collaboratively with other camp counselors and staff. Maintain a positive and welcoming environment for campers, parents, and fellow employees. Attend and participate in mandatory staff meetings. May be asked to complete other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 16 years old. Experience in camps, youth programs, or working with children is preferred. Ability to plan and lead activities while ensuring camper engagement and safety. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. CPR/AED certification required within 30 days of hire. Physical Requirements and Working Environment: Ability to lead and participate in physical activities such as swimming and team games. Must be able to perform physical tasks including reaching, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Capable of working in varying environments including exercise areas, pool facilities, and office spaces. Exposure to recreational environments, pool areas, and cleaning chemicals. Occasional exposure to bodily fluids or physically demanding situations during emergencies. Varying work hours Monday through Friday, 6:45 AM to 6:00 PM.
