At camp, we offer 11 weeks of care that runs from Tuesday, May 26th through Friday, August 7th with an exciting variety of camp options to please every kind of camper at every age! This role is responsible for: Camper and staff health and safety Medication administration Illness and injury response Preventative health practices Health documentation and regulatory compliance Parent, physician, and medical partner communication Housing is provided on-site during assigned camp periods. Required Qualifications Minimum age of 21 Current Texas licensure/certification as one of the following: Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Doctor (MD) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) A person with at least an American Red Cross Emergency Response certificate (or equivalent - i.e.: CPR/FA for the Professional Rescuer, Lifeguarding, etc.) Physical and mental ability to respond effectively in emergencies Ability to work long shifts (8 hours), including walking, lifting, and standing Strong communication skills with youth, staff, families, and medical professionals from diverse backgrounds Current CPR and First Aid certification Willingness to live on site during assigned contract periods Key Responsibilities 1. Camper & Staff Health and Safety Manage daily Health Lodge operations, including: Sick call Medication administration In‑patient care Treatments and follow‑up Maintain emergency equipment and readiness Assess injuries and illnesses and determine when higher‑level care is needed (urgent care, ER, or 911) Monitor campers with chronic health conditions or self‑carry medications Respond to emergencies in accordance with YMCA and American Camp Association (ACA) standards 2. Health Records & Documentation Review camper and staff health forms for accuracy and compliance Communicate with parents to resolve missing or unclear medical information Maintain accurate records using CampMinder or YMCA‑approved systems Document all treatments, medication administration records (MARs), and communications daily Complete incident reports for all injuries, regardless of severity 3. Communication & Professional Leadership Serve as the primary health liaison with parents, physicians, and medical partners Maintain consistent communication with the Camp Director and leadership team Participate in staff training, orientation, and ongoing safety initiatives Model YMCA core values and support an inclusive, supportive camp culture 4. Health Lodge Operations Maintain clean, organized, and sanitary living and work spaces Ensure compliance with YMCA, ACA, and Texas Youth Camp health standards Keep supplies stocked and communicate needs proactively Clearly communicate camper locations and status with office and leadership staff 5.
