Belwood Lodge and Camp is looking for a certified RN/RPN to be the
camp nurse. Belwood Lodge and Camp is a camp for children, youth and
adults with intellectual disabilities and is located just outside of
Fergus, Ontario on beautiful Belwood Lake. Belwood Lodge and Camp
first opened in 1946 and has had a strong reputation as a place for
people with all abilities to feel safe and at home. Belwood Lodge and
Camp prides itself on the quality camp experience provided to
Participants.
Job Responsibilities:
- Daily medication administration (4 times a day)
- Provide initial first aid/emergency care for campers and staff
-Live on-site (meals and lodgings provided)
- Prepare and re-stock first aid kits for emergency use for all
counselors and program areas
- Maintain all records of campers and staff (hospital visits,
medication, injuries, dietary habits)
- Advise cabin counsellors on caring for the health of their campers
- Collaborate with Health Centre staff and Camp Director regarding
outstanding health concerns of Participants
- Communicate and work closely with the leadership team
- Ability to adminster injections
- Assist with hygiene care/concerns as needed
- Daily cleaning, organizing and waste removal within the health centre
- Upon hiring, review the health related Ontario Camps Association (OCA)
accredisation standards
Qualifications:
- A Registered Nurse (RN/ RPN)
- An interest in working with people with disabilities
- Strong organizational skills
- A positive mindset
- Ability to problem solve in a fast-paced environment
- Camp experience is an asset
- Experience working with people with disabilities an asset
Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 2 months
Pay: $1,000.00-$1,200.00 per week
