Girl Guides of Canada is actively seeking a Summer Day Camp Director (June 1- September 4, 2026) This role will be hybrid. During the month of June, majority of work will take place remotely, with the occasional visit onsite. Starting in July, the successful applicant will report daily to 601-149 East Liberty Street in Toronto, ON. About This Opportunity Reporting to the Team Lead, Outdoor Experiences, in this role, you will be responsible for setting up and preparing for Summer Day Camps, as well as for overseeing the daily logistics of Summer Day Camps. In this role, you will work directly with the Summer Day Camp Counsellors, and GGC girl members and non-members. We are looking for an individual who has demonstrated leadership skills, shows strong responsibility, and is adaptable. As the Summer Day Camp Director, you will support Summer Day Camp Counsellors, and help campers explore, challenge themselves, be adventurous, and make lifelong memories. Position Specifics In this role you will: Leadership and Team Dynamics: * Assist with training and mentoring a team of Summer Day Camp Counsellors, fostering a culture of feedback and professional growth. * Create an inclusive, high-energy environment that promotes independence, confidence, adventure, challenge, and teamwork among girl participants. * Oversee the day-to-day logistics of day camp, including acting as primary contact for parents/caregivers, especially during camper drop-off. * Act as on-site contact, and first point of escalation for Summer Day Camp Counsellors. * Act as primary contact for Team Lead, Outdoor Experiences, regarding any escalation needs, purchases, or changes. * Oversee and maintain shared mailbox for Summer Day Camps. As a front-line face of the organization, ensure that a positive customer service relationship is always maintained. Program Delivery: * Create and prepare engaging, experiential programming outlines and source partners/materials for various activities. Ensure activities are age-appropriate for blended group of campers. * Assist with creating training materials for Summer Day Camp Counsellors. * Assist Day Camp Counsellors with facilitating activities for campers, including various activities, crafts, games, as well as taking them off-site to various nearby locations (including taking public transportation). * Assist Day Camp Counsellors with supervising and being responsible for the duty-of-care of campers, including building relationships with campers throughout their day camp experience. Safety and Risk Management: * Act as the primary point of contact for all health and safety protocols, ensuring strict adherence to organizational and provincial standards. * Manage and document all incidents, maintaining clear communication with Team Lead, Outdoor Experience, and parents when necessary. General: * Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices. * Apply organizational policies regarding diversity, inclusivity and equity to content, member communication, and customer service – fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging camp environment. * Embody and uphold GGC’s values, Code of Conduct, and mission. * Other duties as assigned. Prior experience planning and implementing children’s programs and activities is an asset. * Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, balancing multiple competing priorities. * Demonstrate responsibility, leadership, and organizational skills. * Able to be a member of a dynamic staff team delivering a girl-centred, exciting day camp program experience to girls. * Be an effective role model to campers and colleagues, including actively participating in the solution of concerns that may arise. * Willingness to have flexible work hours, including early mornings, evenings and overnights. * Be available for the full duration of the day camp program (June 29 through August 28, 2026). * Must be 18 years of age or older in adherence to Girl Guides of Canada standards for risk management. * Strong communicator with a demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service. * Have and/or be willing to obtain Standard First Aid with CPR C. * Obtain a Police Records Check to comply with the requirements of Girl Guides of Canada. If hired, Girl Guides of Canada will cover the cost to complete a PRC through our process only, and we will provide further instruction once hired. * Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions. * Intermediate to advance skills using Microsoft Suite programs, including: Word, Excel, and Outlook. Assets: * Knowledge of the Girl Guides of Canada program is an asset. * Familiarity/comfortability in navigating downtown Toronto is an asset.
