Job Title: St. Olaf Music Academy Student Pianist Classification: Student Employee (non-exempt) Name and Address of Employer: St. Olaf College, 1520 St. Olaf Ave, Northfield, MN 55057 Department Name: College Events - Music Academy Cost Center & Activity: 13503-13408 Length of Position: See Employment Authorization June 14 - June 20, 2026 Contact Person/Supervisor: Charles Gray Pay Rate (Check One): X Supervisory/Special Skills Hourly Rate $15.00 / hour Description of the Position: To collaborate as a pianist with the St. Olaf Music Academy choir and conductor and provide assistance as pianist for Music Academy recitals. This position anticipates 12-16 hours of piano playing. Sample schedule: ● Sunday - Friday: rehearsal pianist for the St. Olaf Music Academy choir: Sunday evening and Monday-Friday at 9am and 3pm. Each rehearsal is 50-minutes long. Be in touch with the conductor before camp begins to have music learned prior to the first rehearsal. ● Saturday: piano accompanist for the dress rehearsal in Boe Chapel from 9-9:50am and the Grand Finale Concert at 2:30pm in Boe Chapel. ● Monday - Tuesday: be available to perform on the faculty/counselor recitals from 6:30-7:30pm each day in Urness Recital Hall. Music will be agreed on and available 2 weeks in advance if possible. Communicate with likely performing partners to arrange adequate rehearsal. ● Wednesday - Thursday: piano accompanist for performances from 6:30-7:30pm in Urness Recital Hall. Duties and Responsibilities: ● Provide primary piano accompaniment for most rehearsals and performances. ● Be the primary collaborator with student recitalists. ● Be able to organize rehearsals and attend lessons as needed to provide suitable performing support for the student recitalists. ● Apply basic youth development principles in working with academy students through communication, relationship development, respect, and involvement. ● Be aware of and implement all safety guidelines. Follow and uphold all security rules and procedures. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for academy students. ● Interact with people from a diversity of backgrounds and experience. ● Demonstrate a strong sense of initiative and self-direction.
