Description Parks, Lands & Buildings / Street & Sewer / Water Distribution (Assignment based on operational needs) Employment Type: Seasonal / Temporary (Summer) Reports To: Operations Manager / Superintendent Position Summary Summer Help employees assist with a variety of manual labor and support tasks across municipal departments during the summer season. Work includes outdoor maintenance, facility support, and assistance with infrastructure-related projects. Employees are expected to work safely, follow instructions, and provide dependable support to City operations. Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Applicable to all assignments) Perform general labor tasks, including lifting, digging, loading/unloading materials, and using hand tools Assist full-time staff with maintenance and repair activities Maintain the cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and facilities Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers Interact professionally with the public Perform related duties as assigned Qualifications Minimum age: 18 years old Ability to perform physical labor in varying weather conditions Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team Valid driver’s license required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Willingness to learn and follow safety practices Dependability and punctuality Basic communication skills Ability to use hand tools safely Working Conditions Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Physical activity, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting Exposure to noise, dirt, traffic, and equipment The Summer Help/Casual Labor position runs for approximately 12 weeks, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with required weekends for the Parks/Lands & Buildings Department and occasional weekends for the remaining departments.
