Description

SUMMER INTERN – ELECTRICITY DESIGN

New Plymouth
We’re on the lookout for a 2nd or 3rd year Engineering student who’s keen to roll up their sleeves and get some hands-on experience in the electricity sector this summer.
You’ll be joining our Electricity Design team, helping out with a key piece of work involving the Stationware database - the system that helps us manage our substation and network asset data. It’s a great chance to learn how design decisions support the wider electricity system and see how your studies apply in the real world.

ABOUT US

At Powerco, our purpose is to connect communities and that’s at the heart of everything we do. We’re passionate about mahi that keeps over 900,000 customers connected and supports the energy choices people want to make. As Aotearoa transitions to a low-carbon electricity system and moves toward a net zero 2050, we’re proud to play a role in making that happen.
If you’re looking for practical experience, enjoy solving problems, and want to contribute to real work that keeps the lights on for communities across Aotearoa, get in touch! Tell us why you’d be great for our team!
We are particularly interested to hear from students with links to New Plymouth.
Applications close: Sunday 17 August 2025
Our ability to get the best out of people is what sets Powerco apart. We realise that candidates – especially from underrepresented and neurodiverse backgrounds – often won’t apply for roles unless they meet ALL the criteria. We encourage anyone who shares our passion for connecting communities to apply for any role that aligns to your strengths and interests. We will provide a safe space where you can bring your whole self to work and thrive.
If you would benefit from support or adjustments in order to participate equitably in the recruitment process, please email kiaora@powerco.co.nz
