JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

As a Summer Intern – User Experience (UX) Researcher, you will participate in user experience (UX) research and usability testing of our next generation patient monitor devices and systems. This position will give you invaluable insight and experience of designing UX/UI for devices that save people lives. You will have the opportunity to work with the top experts in the medical device industry and learn from them. The work can be started as soon as the right candidate is available, also before the summer.
Patient Care Solutions develop medical devices and technologies that help sustain life, and support patient care in every setting throughout the hospital environment. Our teams use every moment to provide clinicians and frontline caregivers with a variety of life-changing medical solutions in monitoring, diagnostic cardiology, acute care, anesthesia and respiratory care, and maternal and infant care.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Currently pursuing a BS/MS degree in Human Factors/Usability Engineering, Cognitive Science, UX/UI Design, Industrial Design or Computer Science, or solid experience with Usability/User research.
  • Effective analytical, creative thinker with excellent communication skills.
  • Good understanding of usability research principles, UX design process and design methodologies.
  • Practical experience with user research and usability testing.
  • Curious, self-driven, eager to learn, collaborative, and able to find information.
  • Good spoken and written English.

DESIRABLE SKILLS

  • Working experience with user research for consumer or professional products.
  • Experience with design and user interface prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe).
  • Knowledge of or experience with medical devices.
  • Knowledge of and passion to utilize AI tools and technologies.
Responsibilities
  • Design/co-design test scenarios and procedures for testing user interactions.
  • Assist in preparing for, arranging, and executing usability test sessions and usability studies.
  • Assist in analyzing usability test results and communicate findings to teams.
  • Develop tools for planning and executing usability studies, and consolidating results.
