Your team The Global Product Solutions (GPS) Technology team supports Julius Baer’s Structured Products, Equities, Fixed Income, and Derivatives businesses by delivering robust, scalable, and high-performance technology solutions. Within GPS, our team develops and maintains a critical trading suite used by our market-making desks. This system connects to multiple electronic exchanges and enables real-time dissemination of executable investment offers to clients. Performance and accuracy are essential to maintaining our position as one of Switzerland’s leading market makers, known for reliability and excellence in execution. You will gain hands-on exposure to a state-of-the-art trading software platform - FIS Front Arena aka Cross-Asset Trading and Risk platform. Given the intensive computational demands of this platform, we are exploring ways to enhance efficiency through cloud technologies. Specifically, migrating certain components to a hybrid on-premise and cloud-based architecture using Microsoft Azure could significantly reduce reliance on costly local computing resources. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our trading system specialists, central IT services, and enterprise architects to support the evolution of our technical environment toward a hybrid operating model. You’ll contribute directly to this initiative, gaining first-hand experience in one of the most dynamic and technically challenging domains within modern banking. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical skills in high-performance financial systems, cloud integration, and real-time trading platforms - all while working alongside experienced professionals in a global wealth management leader. YOUR CHALLENGE What to work on: Assessing the feasibility and benefits of migrating core platform components to the cloud Conducting requirements analysis and preparing technical documentation for cloud integration Estimating cost implications and identifying potential savings Exploring options for deploying applications as native cloud services on Azure, ensuring alignment with security and performance standards Supporting testing activities and assisting in go-live preparations for migrated components Potential to contribute to smaller development tasks, for example Python scripting, depending on the situation and provided the applicant has interest and capacity in doing so What to learn: The architecture and operation of modern trading systems in a global wealth management environment Real-world use cases and challenges of cloud migration, particularly within regulated financial institutions Hands-on experience with Front Arena, a leading cross-asset trading and risk management platform widely used across top-tier banks YOUR PROFILE Bachelor student from 2nd year onwards or enrolled Master student in a quantitative subject such as information technology, mathematics or physics Seeking a motivated, hands-on candidate who is eager to actively contribute and take initiative in delivering impactful solutions Initial practical experience in hybrid cloud models and basic knowledge in the financial industry is a plusPassion for wealth management and a desire to create value beyond wealth A global mindset, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong appetite for learning Fluency in English, with additional languages being a plus (e.g. German) Registered in the country of application with a valid work permit Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
