ACCOUNTING INTERN — Summer 2026 Location: Memorial City (Houston, TX) — Full-Time, On-Site Only Program Dates: June 1 – July 24, 2026 (8-week commitment required) Compensation: Paid Internship Department: Accounting Status: Competitive Internship — real-world, high-impact experience About the Internship The MetroNational Accounting Internship offers students a structured, paid learning experience designed to connect classroom knowledge with hands-on application. Interns spend approximately 75% of their time supporting meaningful accounting and financial operations, and 25% participating in company-wide learning opportunities, networking events, and professional development. You’ll work alongside experienced accounting professionals who model MetroNational’s values of Trust, Integrity, Impact, and Legacy, gaining insight into how financial practices support a large real estate and property management organization. This is a competitive internship that provides real-world accounting experience aligned with GAAP, internal controls, and corporate financial processes. What You’ll Do Assist with daily, monthly, and quarterly accounting activities such as reconciliations, data validation, invoice processing, or journal entries. Support the preparation and review of financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation. Help organize and analyze financial data to support audits, budgeting, or forecasting. Partner with team members to research discrepancies, review supporting evidence, and maintain accurate records. Participate in process improvement activities or special projects as assigned. Document your work clearly and present a summary of your contributions at the end of the program. Technologies & Tools You May Be Exposed To Accounting systems such as MRI, Nexus and other ERP platforms Excel and other Microsoft Office applications Data organization, file management, and digital recordkeeping systems (Exposure varies by project and student skillset.) Requirements Education & Training Pathways Applicants may qualify through any one of the following: Enrollment in an accredited college or university majoring in Accounting or a related field, or Enrollment in or recent completion of an accredited accounting or bookkeeping trade/technical program, or Completion of a recognized accounting certificate program (ex: bookkeeping certificate, financial accounting bootcamp) All applicants must submit a transcript or program record, demonstrating: Minimum 3.2 GPA for college/university students, or Equivalent performance evaluation for trade school or certificate programs Additional Requirements Must commit to full-time, on-site participation for all 8 weeks (June 1 – July 31, 2026). Remote work is not available. Students unable to commit to all 8 weeks may still be considered, but with lower priority. Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
