Summer Internship – Supply Chain Operations & Logistics Engineering Rotation Location: Rochester Hills, MI Duration: Summer Internship (Approx. 3 months) Rotation Structure: ~1.5 months Supply Chain Operations Coordinator / ~1.5 months Logistics Engineering Schedule: Full-time, in-office About the Internship This summer internship offers hands-on exposure to both day-to-day supply chain operations and strategic logistics engineering. Interns will rotate between two teams, gaining real-world experience supporting customer freight operations while also learning how logistics networks are designed, optimized, and improved. If you’re curious how shipments actually move and how engineers design smarter ways to move them, this role is for you. Requirements Rotation 1: Supply Chain Operations Coordinator During this portion of the internship, you’ll work alongside our operations team to support active transportation networks and customer accounts. What you’ll do: · Track shipments and monitor transit performance to ensure delivery deadlines are met · Communicate with carriers, suppliers, and internal teams to resolve shipment issues · Assist with inventory reconciliation and material flow through warehouses or cross-docks · Generate reports and analyze shipment, order, and inventory data · Help identify cost savings and process improvement opportunities · Gain hands-on experience using transportation and inventory management systems Rotation 2: Logistics Engineering In the engineering rotation, you’ll shift from execution to design—learning how data and analysis drive smarter supply chain decisions. What you’ll do: · Support inbound and outbound logistics network design for customer accounts · Assist with route optimization and transportation planning to reduce miles and transit time · Analyze shipment volumes, weights, and frequencies to improve efficiency · Track and communicate key performance metrics · Participate in projects focused on cost savings, network optimization, and new customer launches · Learn and use logistics analysis tools and routing software What We’re Looking For · Currently pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills · Comfortable working with data (Excel required; exposure to logistics tools is a plus) · Clear communicator who can work independently and in team environments · Curious, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how supply chains operate end to end What You’ll Gain · Real-world exposure to both operational and engineering sides of supply chain management · Hands-on experience with transportation systems, analytics, and logistics tools · Mentorship from experienced supply chain professionals · A strong foundation for future careers in logistics, supply chain, or engineering
