Description The Urban League of Rochester is seeking a Nurse to support their 2026 Project Ready Summer Enrichment program in the Youth Education and Development Division (YED). Schedule: Monday - Friday, 35 hours per week. 6 to 8 week temporary role. Hourly Pay Rate: $30 to $35 per hour, dependent on experience Provide care on site at Montessori School No. 53 while the program is operating, managing medical complications or support during medical emergencies, for up to 60 students and eight staff members. Treat minor student or teacher medical complications including cuts, bruises, scrapes, etc. and recommend further medical care as necessary. Make recommendations for students or teachers to be sent home, including how long the individual should recover before returning to the program, as necessary. In the event of a medical emergency where police are called, assist the injured individual until police or EMT personnel arrive. Emergency care may include procedures such as CPR or the Heimlich Maneuver. Oversee the storage and administration of medication for any students as necessary, as noted and allowed by parents/guardians in program paperwork. This may include the administration of inhalers, Epi Pens, over the counter (OTC) medications, and other medications. Maintain records of all medical treatments administered throughout the summer. Requirements Requires a minimum of a licensed practical nurse (LPN) certification, valid in New York State Experience working with children preferred Current CPR, AED, and first aid certifications for adults and children Ability to track and manage health records Well versed written and oral communications skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Must be able to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
Responsibilities
Provide on-site medical care and emergency support for students and staff during a summer enrichment program. Manage medication administration and maintain detailed medical treatment records.
