For almost 20 years, Avid4 Adventure has empowered kids to live active outdoor lifestyles through our unique outdoor programming. As a Backpacking Specialist with our Windy Peak Overnight Camp, you will do exactly that by guiding kids on multi-day backpacking adventures. You will spend the majority of your summer leading a group of campers to different campsites each night all while teaching campers teamwork, Leave No Trace principles, and how to unplug and reconnect with the outdoors. Important Details Work Schedule: Overnight camps are a 24/7 operation. The leadership team will create a schedule that provides you with one evening off/week and segments of other time off throughout the week. Position Duration: Training takes place in Colorado May 16 - 29; overnight camp programs run from May 31 through August 1. Compensation: Pay is determined based on position, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. Starting hourly are below: $462/week - PLUS room, board, and meals all Summer long! Additional bonuses for advanced certifications: $125 - $400 per certification Select candidates may be eligible to receive a Wilderness First Aid certification as part of their training! Must be 20+, certified to drive a van for us, and work at our Windy Peak Camp Location. Ask our team about your eligibility during your interview! Job Duties Primarily lead our single-sport mountain biking program; may be asked to co-lead other overnight camp programs from time to time (training will be provided!) Provide 24-hour support with guidance, supervision, safety and comfort for participants during all activities. Organize and participate in camp programming, ranging from outdoor sports to camp games and rituals Follow and educate campers on safety protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants Serve as a role model and guide campers by exhibiting appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs Your Background Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of camp; Driver eligible preferred (20+ years old with valid driver's license) Demonstrated personal and/or professional mountain biking experience a must have +1 years of experience working with kids in a professional or volunteer setting preferred Minimum Basic First Aid & CPR certification by the start of camp (and we can point you in the right direction to get this done) Wilderness First Aid certification is required to work at Camp Windy Peak - BUT we can get you certified before camp!
