Description About Krejci Academy: Krejci ("Kret-see") Academy is a therapeutic day school in Warrenville, IL, serving individuals on the autism spectrum ages 5 - 22 years. We are able to provide small class sizes that speak to students' individual needs. Each classroom is led by a Special Education Teacher with the support of a Teacher Assistant and one or more Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessionals provide support to the classroom teacher in implementing the therapeutic treatment program. Paraprofessionals often work one-on-one with students but can also support the whole class. Must be able to respond to individual behaviors in collaboration with other staff which may require sufficient strength, agility and sensory acuity. Must be alert to individual behavioral emergencies and to effectively implement the procedures of confrontation, avoidance, escape evasion and physical management with students weighing a minimum of 75 pounds in accordance with the agency-approved intervention course. Extended School Year (ESY) Program Schedule: Thursday, June 4 - Wednesday, July 15 8:45am - 2:45pm Compensation: Starting at $20.00/hr Age requirement: At least 19 y ears of age License requirement (Little Friends can assist candidates with this process): Option 1: Paraprofessional license through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Option 1A: High school diploma or GED + passing scores on the ACT WorkKeys assessments (agency administers exam, when needed) Option 1B: 60 semester hours of college coursework Option 1C: Associates degree or higher Option 2: Substitute license through the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) Undergraduate degree
