Description Location: Pepperdine University, Malibu, CA or University of Mount St Vincent, New York, NY Employment Period: Late June to Early August, depending on location and contract duration Reports to: Activities Manager and ultimately Center Manager Role Description The main role of the Activity Leader is to organize, supervise and lead the social, sport and excursion program for international students. All activity leaders are expected to do some meal and bedtime duties as scheduled. Activity Leaders work a 6-day week on a rotation basis normally covering 2 of the 3 sessions per day (a session being a morning, afternoon or evening) or work a full day excursion which stretches across all 3 sessions. Duties and Responsibilities: Create, plan and deliver a wide range of sporting, social and interest-based activities To lead and supervise off site excursions Engage with students by: creating a fun activity environment, mixing well with them during activities, creating conversations, being vigilant to include those who are more reticent, ensuring they are fully aware of the procedures, rules of the activity etc. Regular assistance with control of discipline, observance of time-keeping, etc. both at night-time and meal-times To assist with meeting and greeting/checking in students on arrival and helping with departure transfers To promote activities to students and prepare activities as directed General administration assistance Constant vigilance regarding student well-being, homesickness, isolation, bullying, etc. To ensure Kings policy on child safeguarding and student welfare is followed Attendance at regular staff meetings Any other duties as directed by your line manager Remuneration package This role pays a weekly stipend of $715 in addition to shared accommodation and full board on campus Staff at Kings are paid bi-weekly A bonus of $30 per week will be paid to all returning activity leaders upon successful completion of contract. Applicants must be able to demonstrate: University degree completed or in progress Interest and ability in a range of sports, drama, music, arts and crafts Previous experience of working with children/teenagers Energy, enthusiasm, empathy and patience with teenagers Ability to lead and meaningfully engage a group of students on and off campus Flexibility and adaptability in regard to working hours and duties Can-do attitude Desirable attributes include: Previous junior summer camp/center experience Recognized sports/coaching qualifications Teaching/coaching experience, preferably with young learners Current first aid certificate
