Description

HOURLY RATE: £14.21 INCLUSIVE OF HOLIDAY PAY

The University of Chichester is recruiting Conference and Accommodation Summer Receptionists to support our summer business operation when our Halls of Residences and University buildings transform into a commercial hotel, summer school and conference facility.
We are looking for people who have previous experience within a reception/client facing role and can deliver great customer service during our extended summer opening hours. Individuals must be reliable and confident in dealing with a wide range of enquiries from staff, students, contractors, summer B&B and summer school guests.
The successful candidates will be responsible for welcoming, checking in and checking out of guests, taking new bookings, handling finances, ensuring the completion of all associated administration, using and updating the specialist database booking system, checking of rooms, housekeeping duties and ensuring each guest’s stay is an enjoyable and positive experience.

The department is extremely busy over the summer period, so the ideal candidates must be effective communicators who can work independently and as part of a team to deliver great customer service. With good IT and literacy skills candidates must be able to think on their feet, be good problem solvers with attention to detail as well as working with a proactive, calm and flexible approach.

  • Closing date: Sunday 01st June 2025
  • Interview Date: Tuesday 10th or Wednesday 11th June 2025
  • Start date: Monday 14th July 2025
  • Mandatory Training Day: Monday 14th July 2025

Mandatory training must be attended by successful applicants who have not worked for the University in this position before.
You will be working on average 3 to 4 shifts per week, which will increase during peak weeks according to demand. Please note on the application form any days/dates/times you are unable to work and the preferred number of hours you wish to work.
Whilst the department is open 7.30am - 10pm, 7 days a week, the majority of shifts offered will be late afternoon until 10pm as well as at weekends. However, there will be some daytime/morning shifts to cover office holiday/sickness and peak days/major events. So, candidates will need good availability/flexibility.
These positions will predominately be based on the Bishop Otter Campus, Chichester however there may be demand subject to business needs to undertake some duties/shifts on other University Campuses.
