Position Type: Temporary / Seasonal (6 Weeks) Schedule: Monday–Thursday Hours: 7:30 AM – 1:30 PM (including arrival and planning) Instructional Window: 8:30 AM – 11:45 AM Two 90-minute instructional blocks One mid-block break Grade Bands: Rising PK – Grade 7 Group Size: Maximum 15 scholars per group Locations: Ethos Elementary (Grades PK - 2), Ethos Middle (Grades 3-7) The Role Joy Summer Instructional Leads are responsible for leading high-quality, joyful, and rigorous instruction for the full six-week summer program. Instructional Leads own the academic experience for their scholars, delivering daily ELA and/or Math instruction that accelerates growth, builds confidence, and nurtures a love of learning. Leads work Monday–Thursday and use afternoon time for planning, reflection, data review, and preparation for upcoming lessons. This role is ideal for strong classroom teachers who can independently plan, execute, and adjust instruction while building warm, structured classrooms. Lessons will be provided by NSSI. Key Responsibilities Instruction & Learning Lead daily instruction aligned to Ethos’ summer scope and sequence Deliver two 90-minute instructional blocks with high engagement and strong pacing Implement small-group and differentiated instruction to meet varied learner needs Use formative assessment to monitor progress and adjust instruction in real time Ensure scholars are actively reading, writing, problem-solving, and discussing daily Planning & Preparation Prepare lesson plans and materials for all instructional blocks Analyze scholar work and assessment data to inform next steps Collaborate with Joy Summer Site Leaders and content supports Maintain organized lesson plans, pacing trackers, and scholar data Complete a three day paid training from June 2-4 Culture & Classroom Environment Build a joyful, safe, and structured classroom environment Establish clear routines, expectations, and positive behavior systems Model warmth, respect, and high expectations at all times Family & Team Communication Communicate scholar progress and needs as requested Partner with summer staff to ensure a smooth daily experience for scholars Participate in required summer professional learning and meetings Qualifications Valid teaching certification preferred (or strong demonstrated classroom experience) Experience teaching in elementary or middle school settings Strong content knowledge in ELA and/or Math Proven ability to manage a classroom and drive academic growth Belief in high expectations, joyful learning, and scholar potential Reliable availability for the full six-week program What Success Looks Like Scholars demonstrate measurable growth over six weeks Classrooms feel joyful, focused, and academically purposeful Instruction is tight, engaging, and responsive to data Families and scholars report a positive summer learning experience Commitment Expectations Must be available for the entire six-week program June 8 - 25 July 6 - 23 Must arrive on time daily and maintain consistent attendance Must meet planning and documentation deadlines Location Atlanta, Georgia Employment Type Temporary/Seasonal
