JOB SUMMARY Includes a wide variety of tasks to help facilitate summer conference events and provide food service assistance in Dining Services. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Maintain positive attitude and provide quality customer service to all guests * Make beds for Conference Group Key Personnel * Work as a “front desk” staff member greeting guests and assisting them during their visit * Working as a liaison between the campus and the guest during their visit * Working in a dining facility to provide food service to guests throughout the summer months * Ensure food items are served at proper temperatures * Anticipates needs and communicates these to the service supervisor * Receiving, sorting, and washing soiled service ware * Resupplies serving line with clean service ware as needed * Assists in the general cleaning and maintenance of different spaces on campus * Keep storage carts and racks clean and in order * Complete thorough cleaning of work area * Assist with function setups and acts as wait staff for catering functions * Set up areas (dorm rooms, dining unit, event spaces, etc.) prior to groups/events arriving on campus * Perform other duties as assigned * EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Currently in college; Ability to read and write; Food service experience helpful; Must be responsible and dependable QUALITIES * Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately * Work independently and as part of a team * Take initiative, anticipate, prioritize, and follow tasks through to completion * Successfully operate within deadlines, use creative problem-solving skills, and evaluate and adjust when necessary * Adhere to Company, Department and State guidelines as directed * Predictable and reliable attendance * Use creative problem-solving skills * Strong customer service skills are a must PHYSICAL CONDITIONS AND DEMANDS Prolonged standing, bending and walking; Exposure to slippery surfaces, hot surfaces and materials, temperature extremes, sharp tools, broken china, spilled liquids, etc. Exposure to hot water and steam, cleaning solutions and chemicals; Exposure to sharp objects and other kitchen hazards; Exposure to various food types. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

The staff will facilitate summer conference events by providing food service, cleaning, and setting up event spaces. They also act as front desk liaisons to assist guests during their stay on campus.
