Description
Are you currently studying and enrolled in a technical master degree? Are you looking for a meaningful summer job? At Mycronic, you get a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience at a global high-tech company at the forefront of technology. We are looking for someone interested in working with image processing and deep learning, while solving real-world engineering problems. About Mycronic Mycronic is a global high-tech company whose innovative solutions have been advancing electronics technology for over 40 years. Today we continue to grow and serve customers in an expanding variety of industries. What we do impacts the future of technology, and in turn, the way we live our lives tomorrow. We’re looking for people to join our talented, motivated and friendly team on the cutting-edge. Here, in an open, collaborative and flexible environment, you’ll work alongside leading industry experts and take on challenging projects that bring tomorrow’s electronics to life. At this moment there is no other company in the world that can compete with Mycronic's mask writers. All displays you see, whether it is your TV, laptop screen, smart watch, or infotainment screen in your car, are manufactured with the use of Mycronic's machines. The same technology is also used in the semiconductor industry. The process for manufacturing happens at a nanometer level, smaller than blood cells and viruses. For all of this to be possible, a great emphasis is put on the quality of software and hardware. Background Mycronic continuously develops ways to improve the quality of their mask-writers. A common way to enhance performance is to apply systematic corrections to the patterns before printing (a technique known as Mask Process Correction or MPC). To quantify performance improvements, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) is used to image resulting photomasks at nanometer-scale. Detailed image processing and measurement of the features in the SEM images allows to generate quantitative and statistical evidence for performance improvements, commonly used to show to customers or to present at industry conferences. Description The goal of the summer work is to improve the quality and robustness of the image segmentation and contour extraction in our SEM image processing pipeline, focusing on edge cases. Several approaches are possible, and the summer worker has the freedom to propose and steer their own work. Possible tasks could be: Use classical computer vision algorithms or rule-based approaches to improve segmentation and contour extraction in the images. Propose, develop, and implement metrics for measuring and tracking image segmentation performance. Explore deep learning (DL) as a solution for image segmentation: Design the experiment and help decide which train/test data and labels are needed. Propose and implement strategies for labeling difficult edge cases. This may involve tuning, algorithmic development, or manual labeling for some cases. Run deep learning experiments on our existing infrastructure (DL framework and GPU). Explore ways to improve the performance of the model. You will be working with a motivated team that holds expertise on various topics: deep learning, computer vision, scanning electron microscopy, and lithography. Requirements Studying at the master level in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or similar Comfortable with Python and git Knowledge in the fields of Image Processing, Computer Vision and Deep Learning Experience with OpenCV and PyTorch is meritorious Even though support will be available, we are looking for a candidate who is comfortable with conducting explorative work in an independent way Details Department: Core Tech Innovation Place of employment: Headquarters in Täby, right outside Stockholm Country: Sweden Application deadline: We review applications on an ongoing basis, and positions may be filled before the application deadline. Contact person: Tine Libbrecht PhD, Computer Vision Engineer, PG Core Tech Innovation How to apply: Submit your application by completing the screening questions and attaching your CV.
