Description Job Title: Summer Youth Employment Program Participant (Peer Counselor/Intern) Department: Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD) - Client Services (Summer Camp Program) Location: Birmingham, AL Job Type: Seasonal (Summer Program) Compensation: Hourly (Based on Program Guidelines) Program Overview: The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD) Summer Youth Employment Program offers young individuals the opportunity to develop leadership and mentorship skills by serving as Peer Counselors for HABD’s Summer Camp Program. Peer Counselors will support camp activities, mentor younger participants, and assist staff in creating a fun, safe, and educational summer experience. Job Responsibilities: Supervise and engage with younger campers in daily activities, ensuring a positive and inclusive environment. Assist camp staff with planning and leading recreational, educational, and enrichment activities. Serve as a role model by demonstrating positive behavior, leadership, and teamwork. Help maintain a safe and respectful atmosphere by enforcing camp rules and resolving minor conflicts. Support campers in developing social skills, confidence, and teamwork abilities. Assist with setting up and cleaning up program spaces, materials, and equipment. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to enhance leadership and counseling skills. Report any concerns about camper behavior, safety, or program issues to camp supervisors. Program Benefits: Hands-on leadership and mentorship experience. Responsibilities
