About the role
The Geological Superintendent is part of the mine’s technical services team. He/she is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing programs aimed at defining and exploiting the mine’s mineral reserves. The Geological Superintendent adheres to the company’s principles by adopting a management approach focused on sustainable development, operational excellence, and the organization’s code of conduct.

Essential Duties

  • Supervise underground geological mapping activities, sampling, drilling, and geological data analysis.
  • Monitor the control and quality of both internal and external laboratories.
  • Ensure effective cost management and adherence to timelines.
  • Lead and coordinate geologists and technicians, evaluate their performance, and ensure employee development.
  • Produce and present control, monitoring, and progress reports, particularly in terms of geological reconciliation with estimates.
  • Resolve issues related to the department and recommend actions to improve productivity.
  • Comply with, understand, and promote the company’s regulations and policies, especially concerning health and safety.
  • Provide geological condition information to support the design of underground infrastructure (extraction work sites, tunnels, permanent infrastructure, etc.).
  • Set objectives for the department and prepare budgets accordingly.
  • Manage the activities of the diamond drilling contractor.
  • Coordinate the estimation of mineral resources and reserves.
  • Design and implement definition drilling programs to increase mineral reserves and define them for extraction.
  • Participate in the development of medium- and long-term production objectives in collaboration with the exploration and planning team.

Training& Experience

  • University degree in applied geology or geological engineering.
  • A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in underground mining geology, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Member of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec.
  • Hold a valid general explosive and driving permit.
  • Completed mining module training (F.M.T.M.).
  • Strong computer skills, including software such as Vulcan, Deswik, Leapfrog, and MS Office Suite.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is essential.

Working Conditions

  • Schedule: 8 days of work followed by 6 days of rest
  • Eleonore Mine Site (fly-in, fly-out from Montreal, Chibougamau, Matagami, Rouyn-Noranda, Val D’Or and Wemindji)
