Description
Superintendent I – K–12 Education Sector Columbus, OH Elford, Inc. is a trusted building partner with more than a century of experience delivering high-quality construction across Ohio and beyond. We are known for our strong relationships, collaborative approach, and commitment to building the right way — for our clients, our communities, and our people. At Elford, Superintendents don’t just manage jobsites — they own the build. If you’re a Superintendent with experience in the K–12 education sector and take pride in building safe, well-organized learning environments, this could be your next move. The work you lead directly impacts students, teachers, and communities — and we treat that responsibility seriously. We’re growing our Columbus and Central Ohio K–12 education portfolio and are looking for Superintendents who understand how to lead work on active campuses where safety, coordination, and schedule certainty matter every day. WHAT YOU’LL DO You’ll: * Lead and coordinate all on-site construction activities for Elford crews and trade partners * Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for subcontractors, design teams, inspectors, and school district representatives * Enforce Elford’s safety standards and regulatory requirements — safety is never negotiable * Build the work exactly as designed by reviewing plans and specifications before work begins * Maintain a strong on-site presence, directing daily work and sequencing activities to minimize disruption to occupied campuses * Drive the schedule by planning ahead, identifying risks early, and maintaining momentum * Coordinate inspections, testing, and documentation in the proper sequence * Partner closely with the Project Manager on schedule planning, billing support, and subcontractor scope alignment * Maintain high standards for quality and ensure rework is addressed correctly * Supervise Elford field staff and on-site support assigned to the project * Lead weekly job meetings and field coordination sessions * Participate in Field Operations meetings and ongoing company training WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * 10+ years of construction experience, with 5+ years in a Superintendent or Foreman role * Experience in the K–12 education sector, including new construction, renovations, additions, and work on occupied campuses * Trade school, apprenticeship, Construction Management or Civil Engineering degree — or equivalent hands-on experience * Strong understanding of safety, quality control, inspections, and K–12 education compliance requirements * Clear, professional communication with school districts, administrators, trades, inspectors, and internal teams * Organized, detail-oriented, and proactive — you plan ahead rather than react * Comfortable using construction technology to manage daily work * Willingness to work across the Columbus and Central Ohio area as projects require * Commitment to continuous learning and improvement ---------------------------------------- WHY ELFORD Elford has been building in Ohio for over 100 years, with a reputation for strong leadership, real teamwork, and long-term relationships. Our Superintendents are trusted to run their jobs and supported by teams that value planning, accountability, and quality.
