About the role We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to support the upcoming AMPOL Refinery Turnaround. Working closely with Supervisors, Planners and UGL/Ampol leadership, this role will oversee the safe delivery of shutdown work fronts and daily operational execution. This turnaround runs Mid-May – August 2026, initially working 5 days (Mon-Fri) leading to 6 days on / 1 day off roster, for the duration of the shutdown and FIFO provided from major capital cities. You will lead work groups, support planning and scheduling integration, manage safety performance on the ground, and ensure timely progress against scope, cost and schedule expectations. What we offer · FIFO provided from major capital cities · 6/1 roster for the duration of the turnaround · Opportunity to lead at one of Australia’s last operating refineries · A strong and supportive safety first culture · Access to UGL learning and development programs · Employee rewards, benefits and internal growth pathways Key Responsibilities · Undertake detailed constructability reviews for nominated activities. · Review and optimisation of plan/schedule. · Review of field work packs. · Assist with Tooling selection and quantities. · Lead and coordinate daily work groups to safely deliver shutdown activities in line with scope, schedule and quality expectations. · Oversee permit, isolation and access processes, ensuring compliance with AMPOL and UGL safety systems. · Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments and daily field leadership engagements. · Monitor progress across work fronts, escalate delays/constraints and support planning teams with accurate daily reporting. · Collaborate with Supervisors, Planners, HSE and client representatives to facilitate safe, efficient and high quality execution. · Oversee QA / work pack completions and systems hand back. About You · Extensive experience supervising or coordinating teams in refinery, petrochemical, resources or heavy industrial shutdown environments. · Strong understanding of high risk work controls, including W@H, confined space, and isolation processes. · Understanding of P6 schedules / resource histograms. · Calm, collaborative and resilient in fast paced shutdown conditions. · Confident leading diverse teams and ensuring safety remains the highest priority. · Strong communication and problem solving capability with a focus on achieving safe, efficient outcomes. · Competent with MS Office Suite, SAP experience desired.
