Clermont Open Cut, a Glencore Operation, is currently seeking an experienced Drill & Blast Superintendent to join a team of highly motivated leaders accountable for managing all facets of the Mining Department onsite. Located on the western edge of the Bowen Basin, Clermont Open Cut is a high performing truck & shovel operation that produces 11 million tonnes of coal per annum. Clermont Open Cut Operation is a safe, dynamic, and inclusive workplace focused on delivering high performance outcomes. Reporting to the Mining Manager, this position forms an integral part of the Mining Department leadership team and offers variety and opportunity to the right individual.
IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
Driving a safety focused workplace through visible leadership
Leading the Drill & Blast team to safely deliver production plans by optimising activities and continually seeking out process improvements in work practices, procedures and KPI’s
Managing effective internal & external stakeholder relationships
Managing the Drill & Blast budget and forecasting process which supports the effective cost management of the Mining Department
Compliance to all legislative requirements
Effective management of contracts relative to the Drill and Blast function
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE INCLUDE:
Extensive experience in open-cut coal mine operations managing large multi-disciplined teams
SSAN Clearance (Mandatory)
QLD Shotfirers Licence (desirable)
OCE Qualification (desirable)
Truck and shovel leadership experience (desirable)
Experience in contractor management
S123, G2 & G3
Ability to develop strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders
Proactive attitude to safety, a strong work ethic, and leadership capabilities
QLD Drivers Licence
This role requires a safety conscious candidate prepared to challenge the norm, drive continuous improvement and who can demonstrate experience in implementing best practice using a hands-on approach.
