Job Summary:
Established in 1989, Eton-West Construction (ALTA) Inc. is a General Contractor based in Edmonton with ongoing projects in and around the surrounding areas, a branch in Calgary, as well as current projects in BC. We specialize in the commercial, light-industrial, and institutional sectors.
We are looking for a Construction Superintendent for our Edmonton branch. Reporting to the Vice Presidents, you will be working closely with our project managers and project coordinators.

General Skills / Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s licence and your own vehicle
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Computer experience including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Project
  • Current first aid certificate with CPR and AED
  • Flexibility with schedule; ability to travel locally as needed
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in an effective manner
  • Organization and leadership skills
  • Ability to deal with non-conformance issues regarding safety and quality

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the mobilization and demobilization of the construction site
  • Coordinate construction activities, manage sub-trades, supervise workers in day-to-day operations, and maintain a daily diary
  • Ensure sub-contractors have the appropriate workforce on site
  • Ensure projects are built according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes, while monitoring construction progress and schedules
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed by everyone on the job site
  • Prepare and distribute safety related reports, such as hazard assessments, inspections, and hot work permits
  • Host meetings such as tool-box meetings, start-up meetings, and consultant and/or sub-trade coordination meetings
  • Complete safety orientations for all new job-site workers to ensure their knowledge of the safety policies, procedures, and site-specific conditions
  • Hire workers (permanent and temporary) and train them in their duties
  • Various administrative duties such as preparing purchase orders, equipment inventory sheets, timecards, expense reports, hire-on packages, and maintaining as-built drawings
