Job description: Financial & Management Accounting Oversee all financial and management accounting for the Australian corporate office and exploration entities Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Maintain high-quality financial reporting in line with group requirements Manage Employee Share Scheme (ESS) reporting, including coordination of annual ATO reporting requirements and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations Review payroll related statutory obligations, including PAYG withholding and superannuation, to ensure accuracy and completeness Budgeting & Forecasting Lead preparation of budgets and forecasts for corporate (FQMA) costs Partner closely with Heads of Department (HODs) to develop and refine budgets and forecasts Support forecasting and budgeting activities for operations in care and maintenance Statutory & Board Reporting Oversee statutory accounts preparation and compliance Review and support board reporting, including budgets and forecasts Ensure alignment with regulatory and group reporting requirements Audit & External Relationships Own the relationship with external auditors and lead audit processes for FQMA entities Manage relationships with outsourced payroll providers and external advisors (including Big Four tax advisors) Ensure smooth and efficient audit cycles with strong preparation and documentation Controls, Governance & Process Improvement Establish and maintain robust financial control and review frameworks Drive continuous improvement initiatives across finance processes and systems, particularly in environments with evolving or undefined processes Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements Capital Projects & Reporting Work closely with Capital Projects teams on major capex initiatives Oversee financial reporting for capital projects Support development and enhancement of Group AFCE (Approval for Capital Expenditure) reporting Leadership & Team Development Lead and develop a team of 3 qualified accountants Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management Foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment Partner with key stakeholders across departments and jurisdictions to influence outcomes, drive alignment, and support objectives Group & Strategic Initiatives Lead or contribute to group-wide projects (corporate, capex, ERP, or process improvements) Engage with international stakeholders, including senior leadership Partner with Projects, Procurement, and HR teams to support system integrations between ERP and related platforms Group & Strategic Initiatives Lead or contribute to group-wide projects (corporate, capex, ERP, or process improvements) Engage with international stakeholders, including senior leadership Partner with Projects, Procurement, and HR teams to support system integrations between ERP and related platforms Visit our website and register for instant job alerts at First Quantum Careers Follow us for the latest news at LinkedIn If you are already a First Quantum employee, log into your Workday account > Career Hub > Browse Jobs to apply internally for this opportunity.
