The Superintendent - High-Profile Government Project - Washington, DC will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing day-to-day field operations for historical renovation construction projects
  • Coordinating site activities in accordance with NAVFAC standards and contract specifications
  • Managing subcontractors and ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality expectations
  • Ensuring compliance with preservation guidelines for historical structures and materials
  • Communicating with NAVFAC personnel, architects, and historical consultants to maintain design intent
  • Enforcing strict safety standards in compliance with EM 385-1-1 and other federal regulations
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and submittals for constructability and historical accuracy
  • Conducting daily inspections and documenting progress through field reports and photos
  • Identifying and resolving field issues with sensitivity to historic fabric and structural limitations
  • Monitoring procurement and timely delivery of historically appropriate materials
  • Maintaining up-to-date project logs, RFIs, and documentation through project management software
  • Leading site meetings, including preparatory meetings, safety briefings, and quality control sessions
  • Collaborating with Quality Control Manager and Site Safety Health Officer as part of the QC/SSHO triangle (required for NAVFAC projects)
  • Reporting project progress to PMs and federal stakeholders with clarity and accuracy
  • Training and mentoring field staff on best practices in historical renovation and NAVFAC protocols

The Superintendent - High-Profile Government Project - Washington, DC will have:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience supervising large-scale renovation and restoration projects
  • Proven expertise in historical building systems, materials, and preservation best practices
  • Strong background in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systems coordination and oversight
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and NAVFAC Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC)
  • Direct experience managing MEP subcontractors, sequencing, testing, and system commissioning
  • Familiarity with NAVFAC project delivery methods, procedures, and documentation standards
  • Previous work on federal contracts, preferably with NAVFAC or Department of Defense agencies
  • Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 safety standards and experience working within QC/SSHO frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills with government clients, A/E teams, and trade partners
  • OSHA 30 certification required; First Aid/CPR and CQM for Contractors certification preferred
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as Procore, RMS, or Primavera P6
  • Strong leadership and team management skills focused on safety, quality, and accountability
  • History of successful completion of multi-million-dollar renovation projects on time and within budget
  • Ability to work in active facilities or occupied buildings without disrupting operations

Michael Page is partnered with a family-owned General Contractor that has been servicing federal/government clients throughout the DMV for over 20 years. These projects include both new construction and renovations, ranging from $500K to $15M. They are going to be starting a $15M historical renovation at one of the oldest government buildings in DC, and are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead that project.
