Description Superintendent – Large Bore Engines Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL Department: Field Service – Large Bore Engines Reports To: Manager, Field Service Operations Work Type: Full-Time | Field-Based Travel: Up to 75–80% (Domestic & International) Direct Reports: Field Engineers and Technicians (project-based leadership) Compensation: $43.00 - $55.00 per hour (DOE) Bonus: Eligible for performance-based incentive program Lead From the Front. MSHS Pacific Power Group is seeking a Large Bore Engine Superintendent to serve as a senior technical authority and field leader across marine, offshore, power generation, and industrial engine projects. This is a high-responsibility role for a seasoned engine professional who has progressed from hands-on technician to trusted field leader. You will lead complex overhauls, guide field teams, troubleshoot major failures, and represent MSHS as a subject matter expert on large bore diesel platforms. If you have deep engine knowledge, can diagnose catastrophic failures, and are comfortable owning major field projects from start to finish, this is your opportunity. What You’ll Be Doing Lead large bore diesel engine overhauls and complex field service projects Serve as technical SME across multiple engine platforms Troubleshoot complex mechanical and system failures using performance data and root cause analysis Lead and coordinate field teams of varying size and experience Provide onsite leadership for government, offshore, and high-criticality projects Support advanced machining procedures and specialty tooling operations Mentor and develop junior engineers Interface with Sales, Technical Support, and Project Managers to support quoting and execution Participate in customer meetings and represent MSHS professionally Manage project scope, field execution, and schedule expectations Support cost control and performance accountability Complete detailed service reports, change orders, and government documentation Required Qualifications 10+ years of progressive hands-on experience working on large bore diesel engines Proven progression from field technician to field leader 5+ years leading field teams on major engine overhauls or complex projects Advanced knowledge of engine diagnostics, auxiliary systems, governors, and performance analysis Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, fuel, lube oil, and cooling systems Experience conducting root cause analysis on major component failures Advanced ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics Experience performing or leading major repairs including crankshaft replacement and engine timing procedures Ability to travel up to 75–80% Valid driver’s license TWIC, Passport, and ability to obtain offshore certifications Ability to lead government and regulated projects Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English Preferred Experience Experience across multiple OEM platforms such as MAN, Wärtsilä, CAT, MTU, or similar Experience supporting sales teams with technical input for quoting future work Experience managing multiple field projects simultaneously Experience mentoring and training junior engineers Familiarity with advanced diagnostic tools such as vibration analysis and thermal imaging Marine, offshore, or power generation background Leadership Expectations Act as a technical ambassador of MSHS PPG in the field Maintain professionalism under pressure Resolve field conflicts and drive team accountability Deliver projects safely, accurately, and on schedule Represent the company with integrity and technical authority Why MSHS Pacific Power Group Our Superintendents lead projects that power ships, ports, facilities, and critical infrastructure.
