SUPERINTENDENT OF EDUCATION

Located in beautiful southwestern Ontario, the Board encompasses a large area of over 5,000 square kilometers, including Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent. With approximately 9,200 students, 23 elementary schools, 2 secondary schools, 1,700 staff, and an annual operating budget of $135 million, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board is committed to providing its students with an outstanding, faith-based learning environment that focuses on educating the whole’ child.
The Superintendent of Education is a position that nurtures the growth of all persons with Catholic, faith-filled leadership to understand God’s calling to a life of faith and service. With its Vision Catholic Education + Future Ready and Mission Learning Together Today, Transforming Tomorrow, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board welcomes applications for the position of Superintendent of Education. The Board wishes the position to commence on April 1, 2025, pending mutual agreement between the successful candidate and the Board.

As an integral member of the Board’s Executive Council, the successful candidate will:

  • Work in a constructive leadership model to ensure effective implementation of Catholic curricula and the corollary programming needs of elementary and secondary schools;
  • Proactively work with the senior team and administrators on developing equity, diversity and inclusion practices throughout the Board;
  • Communicate professionally with all persons;
  • Lead all aspects of an assigned portfolio, including supervision of staff and fiscal accountability;
  • Engage in and support positive labour and employee relations and the holistic development of all persons;
  • Provide effective supporting, monitoring and reporting mechanisms for the pursuit of all goals and targets within the Board’s Multi-Year Plan and annual Student Achievement Plan.

Skills and Qualification Requirements:

  • Ontario Supervisory Officer’s Qualifications; or working towards SOQP qualifications;
  • Ontario College of Teachers - Certificate of Qualifications and Registration;
  • Current Pastoral Letter of Reference;
  • Minimum of 5 years Principal or Superintendent experience (preferred);
  • Demonstrated expertise with the implementation of curricula, pedagogies and special education;
  • Experience in an elementary portfolio and/or in an elementary school;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that embrace confidentiality, diplomacy, conflict resolution and problem-solving;
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge of instructional leadership and how to effectively implement innovative, evidence based strategies;
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building of teachers, education workers and school leaders.
