The pay range is $80,000- $100,000. Depending on Qualifications GENERAL PURPOSE: Develops, coordinates and oversees the specialized functions of the Parks Department within the District. Manages the department specialists for custodial, fleet, landscape, and trade along with their areas specific operations to ensure adherence to Park District policy, procedure, and best practices. This individual is responsible for identifying and implementing strategic methods of operation which will improve processes leading to the success of the parks’ specialized functions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Plans and organizes activities of the parks department; coordinates with Division Managers, ensuring all objectives are met on a consistent basis. Reviews and prepares costs for the annual budget, recommends park, building, and facility improvements for the Capital budget. Aids in the recruitment, selection, training and evaluation of full-time and seasonal staff; monitors and approves payroll and overtime expenditures for the department. Coordinates the direction and implementation of department’s grounds and parks landscape maintenance program with the assistance of Division Managers. Coordinates the direction and implementation of department’s natural areas resource management program. Coordinates the direction and implementation of department’s fleet and equipment maintenance program with the assistance of Division Managers. Coordinates the direction and implementation of department’s building and facilities maintenance program with the assistance of Division Managers. Supervises and manages contractual vendors performing work for the department. Routinely on call to support personnel and respond to emergencies. Provides leadership to department and oversees general workflow of the specialized services of the department. Manages the purchasing of departmental supplies, services and equipment in accordance with District purchasing policy. Works in coordination with all internal departments to reach overall strategic objectives of the district. Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner. Performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Park District’s safety program. Responds to citizen inquiries related to the department. Performs any additional related tasks as required. Requirements 5 years supervisory experience in parks/recreation maintenance operations and/or operations management Bachelor’s degree in Parks Management, Facilities and Maintenance Management, Business Management, Horticulture or a combination of a high school degree with equivalent years of related experience Valid driver’s license required Ability to develop and maintain working relationships with agencies, businesses and community as a representative of the park district Experience in managing departmental budgets Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Pesticide applicator license required; ability to certify within 12 months of hire Must have strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills Strong organizational and project management experience Plainfield Park District is an Equal Opportunity Employer
