Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Superintendent Radiographer to lead our Breast Screening and Symptomatic Breast Imaging services across Portsmouth and Southeast Hampshire. About the Role As Superintendent Radiographer, you will: Take responsibility for all clinical aspects of breast screening and symptomatic imaging services. Provide leadership and management expertise to deliver an efficient, high-quality service. Work closely with the Breast Screening Director and Programme Manager to plan the strategic direction of the Breast Imaging Service. Ensure compliance with national targets and NHS Breast Screening Programme standards. Manage a shared budget of circa £2m and lead a team of radiographers, assistant practitioners, and support staff. What We’re Looking For Essential: HCPC registration Postgraduate award in Breast Imaging Significant post-graduate radiography experience Proven supervisory/management experience Desirable: Management qualification Educated to Master’s level or equivalent You’ll need excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to manage complex services and inspire your team. Please refer to the Job description for further information Qualifications Essential Professional Registration Hold a post graduate award in Breast Imaging Desirable Management qualification Educated to Masters level or equivalent in Radiography Experience Significant post graduate experience in Radiography Significant supervisory/management experience Skills and Knowledge Literacy, Numeracy and keyboard skills Computer Literacy e.g. use of email, internet, on-line diary Knowledge and understanding of IR(ME)R. Ability to problem solve Have the ability to alter technique to ensure the highest standard and quality is maintained. Ability to gather data and compile information and prepare reports Ability to develop, plan and implement short, medium and long-range goals Critical appraisal skills Organisational & prioritising skills. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
