OUR OPPORTUNITY

Location: Eliwana - Fortescue’s Eliwana mine is located on the traditional lands of the Puutu Kunti Kurrama people
Roster: 4D3R FIFO ex Perth
We are seeking a highly motivated leader to join our Eliwana Operations Planning team as a Superintendent responsible for accurate and timely delivery of the weekly and daily mine plans.
Reporting to the Manager Operations Planning, the successful candidate will be responsible for all short-term mine design, drill and blast design, mine schedules and blending activities to optimise production at our Eliwana mine. This role requires strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with various internal and external stakeholders as well as the ability to articulate complex risks/opportunities to both technical and non-technical teams.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience of leading and developing engaged, empowered, and efficient teams.
  • Capability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong short-term planning skills (weekly and daily planning), knowledge in open pit mining, preferably in iron ore and a practical approach to engineering and design problems.
  • Experience in blending strategies and drill and blast is highly desired.
  • Proven strong analytical skills and statistical problem-solving abilities
  • Tertiary qualification in mining engineering or similar
  • A willingness to challenge the way things are done and implement system improvements while developing your team along the way

Responsibilities
  • Liaise with support functions, including Approvals, Heritage, Geology, Geotechnical and Hydrogeology, to understand risk and opportunities to the operation
  • Assessment of mining methodology options for both cost and productivity metrics
  • Communicating options, designs and plans with relevant stakeholders to ensure safe and environmentally compliant execution of work can be achieved
  • Delivering product quality, pit progression, waste schedules, fleet requirements and other technical guidance as required through weekly and daily schedules
  • Responsible for the delivery of drill and blast designs, blast tie-in design and explosives forecasting
  • Play a key role in problem solving and implementing systems that support our rapid transition to business decarbonization
