Overview:
The Superintendent’s role is responsible for coordinating all activities related to a construction project on jobsite, completing work ahead of schedule, within budget and within specifications and the duties will vary by client and project size with varying degrees of responsibility and authority.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Superintendent I Requirements:
- Three years’ (3) experience/knowledge in a supervisory role in construction.
Superintendent II Requirements:
- Five (5) years’ experience/knowledge or combination of experience and education in a supervisory role
Superintendent III Requiremnts:
- Five (5) years’ or more experience/knowledge or combination of experience and education in a supervisory role
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Be knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations.
- When on-site, actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors.
- Set a personal example of safe behavior.
- Organize, instruct and supervise construction crews and sub-contractors in all areas of construction
- Knowledge of all construction tools, machinery methods and procedures
- Must be able to forecast and monitor costs of project
- Understanding of construction methods, scheduling and blueprint reading
- The ability to demonstrate leadership, lead by example, motivate workers and communicate with workers, subordinates and clients
- Computer experience with Microsoft office, Email and Internet preferred
- Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
