JOB SUMMARY:
In this role, you will ensure all tank components that require welding comply with contract and design requirements. Ensure all works are performed according to approved Specifications, Procedures and Plans. Ensure that the Construction team adhere to all necessary Codes and Methods Statements. Have direct construction and construction management responsibilities for tank pre-assembly, tank construction, and operational requirements.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires +8 years of experience in welding and welding supervision.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Must have experience and practical skills for FCAW, mechanized FCAW, SAW, SMAW, and GTAW welding processes.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field welding activities.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, Smart Plant Review, Document database navigation.
Responsibilities:
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinating with the Tank Superintendent and the Tanks Welding Manager to validate manpower and welder qualification requirements and plan new welding operations as they are started.
- Providing direction to the Tank Welding Technicians, tank Welding Engineers and craft foreman as necessary to support welding initiatives during tank construction, ensuring the welders assigned to each task have the skill sets necessary to satisfactorily provide first time quality with minimal rework.
- Reviewing weekly scheduled work plans with discipline superintendents for tank commodities to ensure the project have the welder resources available with the proper qualifications along with the needed welding materials and welding equipment to support the planned work scopes.
- Providing input to weekly production meetings to ensure sufficient welder support is also scheduled and available.
- Supervising and coordinating daily with direct hire on tank welding activities. Included but not limited to tank pre-assembly and construction welding performed on each tank foundation and materials management team.
- Ensuring the welding commodities, equipment, and consumable gases are staged in assigned areas and are sufficient to support the scheduled work scopes. Providing oversight to ensure compliance according to the project housekeeping and safety procedures.
- Supporting the repair of specialized tank welding equipment. Maintaining a supply of repair parts and consumables to keep welding equipment in proper operation.
- Providing oversight and assisting with fit-up and specialized tank welding processes as necessary to support completion of tank construction.
