Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Payroll Supervisor oversees and manages all aspects of payroll processing, including the supervision of payroll staff. The ideal candidate is proactive, solutions-oriented, proficient in Workday, has good Excel skills, and a strong understanding of payroll compliance.

WHAT YOU’LL DO HERE

  • Manage, supervise, and mentor a payroll administrator.
  • Oversee the bi-weekly processing of payroll for over 800 employees in Quebec and Canada combined, ensuring full cycle completion.
  • Oversee and carry out payroll processing tasks in Workday to ensure precise payroll calculations and uphold the integrity of payroll data and related records.
  • Audit processes for new hires, employee changes, leaves, and terminations in Workday.
  • Validate that all employees have submitted their timesheet.
  • Validate that supervisors have approved all timesheets for their employees.
  • Oversee and follow-up with employees and supervisors for missing time sheets that have either not been approved or that have been approved in error.
  • Oversee and follow up with staff for missing project codes or activities codes.
  • Act as a point of contact for any payroll-related questions or requests and handle them accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Remit RRSP and DPSP funds to company custodian.
  • Audit our Service Canada Records of Employment (terminations, leaves and others).
  • Oversee and reconcile tax filing with our third-party compliance partner OneSource Virtual (OSV).
  • Participate in reviewing and ensuring compliance with payroll procedures in accordance with local regulations.
  • Researching best practices to identify new payroll processes and policies, including preparation of payroll documentation.
  • Participate in various payroll audits.
  • Manage the year-end process of providing accurate tax statements to governments and employees
  • Provide remittance details for contract workers who are not incorporate to accounts payable.
  • Consolidate T4A’s from Accounts Payable into overall T4 filing.
