About the Role
Are you an experienced Supervising Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children in foster care? We are seeking dedicated and compassionate professionals to join our dynamic Children’s Services team across London and the surrounding areas. As a Supervising Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of care for children and young people in foster placements. You will support foster carers through regular supervision, guidance, and training, helping them provide safe, stable, and nurturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide regular supervision, support, and guidance to foster carers to ensure placements are safe, stable, and high-quality.
  • Complete annual foster carer reviews, risk assessments, and foster carer assessments in accordance with statutory regulations and best practice.
  • Support the matching process between children and foster carers, ensuring the best possible outcomes for children and young people.
  • Liaise effectively with other professionals including social workers, teachers, health professionals, and safeguarding leads to support the holistic needs of the child.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records and reports in line with legislative requirements.
  • Attend and contribute to statutory reviews, case conferences, and planning meetings.
  • Promote the welfare and safeguarding of children at all times, ensuring that the needs of the child remain paramount.
  • Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and continuous professional development to maintain knowledge and skills.

Requirements

  • Qualified Social Worker with a recognised social work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, Diploma in Social Work, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England (SWE).
  • Proven experience in fostering, children’s services, or relevant social work roles.
  • Excellent understanding of fostering regulations, national minimum standards, and safeguarding legislation.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Strong communication, assessment, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
