SUPERVISING SOCIAL WORKER
Location: South West (primarily Devon and Cornwall
Salary: £42,000 per annum, plus regional development bonus
Hours: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm

Born out of a desire to achieve positive change for children, young people, and vulnerable adults impacted by the social care system. Reconstruct provides a range of services to social care sectors across the UK, including Recruitment, Statutory Services, and Consultancy.
Responsibilities:
THE ROLE
The Supervising Social Worker builds positive relationships between Fostering agency, the Foster Parent and the child’s Social Worker. It is a key role that helps the Foster Parent to sustain the child in placement and ensure outcomes for children are being met within the foster family. Crucial to successful outcomes for children are positive working relationships between all the professionals around the child, and the Supervising Social Worker role is a combination of monitoring and safeguarding on behalf of the children and being there for the family. This is a therapeutic organisation and, ideally, applicants should have experience working in a therapeutic independent service or be curious about therapeutic fostering and willing to learn.
This role will be pivotal to our development in the south west of England. This is a development role with the successful candidate having demonstrable experience in successfully growing a region.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Growing our presence in the South West of England – primarily Devon and Cornwall, which includes undertaking initial visits and supporting prospective families through to panel;
- To take part in recruitment events, activities, and open days/ evenings to promote the work of the service and recruit potential parents;
- To provide regular support and supervision to parents, in line with service procedure, including monitoring daily logs by parents;
- To manage your allocated foster families, which include parent and child placements and therapeutic placements;
- Identify training needs of foster families and deliver training as required;
- To attend meetings, complete reports and take minutes;
- To attend fostering panel when required;
- To ensure that each parent accepts, understands and operates within all policy and guidance;
- To work with colleagues within the service to review and understand the needs of placing local authorities and to inform colleagues of the potential availability of new parents;
- To establish and maintain effective working relationships with Local Authorities and other key agencies to achieve best outcomes for children and promote the business interests;
- To work in partnership in responsive approaches to help identify any needs within the foster family and with all other members of the child’s network, including contribution to all relevant meetings and other task defined;
- To take responsibility for your own supervision, appraisal, professional development and training;
- To participate in the out of hours system;
- To undertake any other duties identified by the line manager.
