Position Summary Works under limited supervision to oversee and coordinate the activities of employees in an assigned unit.     Pay Grade: 51  Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education   Minimum Qualifications * Three (3) years of experience in a lead or staff supervisory capacity; AND  * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, management or related field; OR * An equivalent combination of related education and/or experience. * PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.   Duties and Responsibilities * Assigns, directs and reviews the work of subordinate employees of an assigned area. * Recommends selections, promotions, status changes, disciplinary action and terminations. * Determines work procedures and work assignments. * Assembles information and prepares composite reports from individual reports of subordinates. * Develops and supervises in-service training programs. * Tracks reports and other necessary personnel records. * Evaluates employee work performance to ensure efficient and economical work operation. * Assists in establishing, deleting and revising operations. * Solves problems related to the work supervised. * Performs other related duties as required or directed.   KSAs * Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques. * Knowledge and/or skill required of the work activities supervised. * Skilled in Managerial/Leadership abilities. * Ability to coordinate and direct the activities of assigned personnel. * Ability to communicate and work with other departments. * Ability to prepare composite reports. * Knowledge of the various legal instruments issued by the court. * Ability to maintain established system of records and files. * Ability to work with court officials * Ability to use a personal computer. * Ability to write legibly on legal documents and court files. * Ability to perform accurate arithmetical computations.   Disclaimer This position is subject to a background check for any convictions that have a substantial relationship to potential job duties. Shelby County Resident Disclaimer All employees hired after September 1, 1986, must be residents of Shelby County and shall continue to reside in the County as a condition of their employment.  The residency requirement shall not apply to certain public safety/civil service employees.  This means exemption from this policy is in effect for the following departments and positions: (1) Sheriff Deputy Patrol Officers, Deputy Jailers and Dispatchers, employed by the Sheriff Department, (2) Correction Officers employed by the Division of Corrections, (3) Firefighters, Paramedics and Dispatchers employed by the Shelby County Fire Department.  The residency exemption for public safety/civil service employees does not include Appointed positions with Sheriff’s Office, Division of Corrections or the Fire Department.
