Description
Position Summary Works under the direction of a Manager. This position provides direct crisis intervention and counseling services to victims of crime as well as clinical supervision for interns, volunteers, and/or contractors. Complies with agency mission in ensuring that victims and survivors of crime are provided with holistic advocacy, support, and forensic services. Collaborates with community partners and county staff to raise awareness of the impact of violence and trauma and the resources are available to victims in our community. Verifies compliance with all programmatic or operational requirements of both grant and county funding sources. Pay Grade: 51 Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education Minimum Qualifications Three (3) years’ experience in a lead or supervisory capacity; AND Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, counseling, or a closely related field; OR Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field; OR An equivalent combination of related education, and/or experience. Specific experience working with victims of crime preferred. Licensure by a counseling or social work-related board preferred. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. Duties and Responsibilities Serves as senior trauma counselor, providing direct crisis intervention and counseling services to victims of crime. Provides clinical supervision and programmatic oversight for interns, volunteers, and/or contractors, ensuring that services are clinically and ethically sound, trauma-informed, and client-centered. Sets clear expectations for staff/intern performance, including ensuring that staff/interns understand and adhere to county, agency, and grant goals, objectives, and activities. Works with staff and leadership to develop and implement effective and efficient operations and service delivery procedures and protocols. Monitors service delivery and case documentation for quality control and continuous improvement. Collects and analyzes individual and team data to ensure ongoing equity in caseloads as well as accurate data entry and reporting. Provides guidance to agency’s leadership team in the development and evaluation of victim-centered programming. Remains up to date on best practices and evidence-informed programming in the victim services and violence prevention fields. Develops and implements crisis intervention training and technical assistance across the agency. Participates in the agency’s community engagement efforts, including providing education and organizing and promoting awareness activities and events. Performs other related duties as assigned or directed. KSAs Knowledge of victimization and trauma and/or the civil or criminal justice system. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of social work and/or counseling and apply them in counseling victims of crime. Ability to utilize clinical and ethical counseling expertise in working with and training staff, interns, and clients. Skilled in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques. Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and to make decisions independently. Ability to effectively communicate in written form and orally, in a clear, concise manner, with staff, management, partner agencies, victims, and the general public. Ability to design and implement professional training and educational outreach programs, as well as identify best practices in the field and adapt them to community needs. Ability to evaluate agency services and ensure compliance with grant funding and other reporting requirements. Ability to deal tactfully with people from diverse backgrounds and situations. Ability to use good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, Excel, and Power Point. Special Requirements Must pass criminal background check. Must possess a valid Tennessee Driver's License or secure one by date of employment. Must have daily access to an operable automobile and meet County requirements for automobile insurance as of date of employment. Must be able to respond effectively to crisis situations.
