Mount Isa Mines is seeking suitably qualified and experienced applicants for the role of Supervisor – Air Quality Control. Reporting to the Senior Environmental Advisor - Operations within the HSEC Department, you will supervise and lead a team of air quality controllers to ensure the efficient and effective operation of Mount Isa Mines Air Quality Control (AQC) Centre. The role will also be accountable for developing technical reports, data management, management of air quality projects and reporting on air quality metrics. This role is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys aligning technical knowledge and experience in the resource industry with strategy development and operational control. The role is residential to Mount Isa on a 5, 2, 4, 3 rotating roster.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their career through exposure to a dynamic and challenging environment. Working as part of a large air quality management team you will be supervising the team of Air Quality Controllers to manage air quality systems and providing instruction to operational areas to drive positive environmental outcomes. You will be trained to become the subject matter expert for air quality management onsite and be deeply involved with our site operations and processing teams.
As the supervisor, you will also provide direct support to the Senior – Environmental Advisor for Operations relating to all air quality and noise matters concerned with the Environmental Authority including project management, technical document delivers, compliance management and reporting.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

You will be trained as an air quality controller and will be utilised to work shift work (4:4 roster) for a period of approx. 4 months per year to cover annual leave / sick leave requirements of the AQC controllers.
Practical application of technical knowledge on air quality to ensure compliance, address risks and drive improvements in air quality management.
Effective leadership of a team of air quality controllers to manage air quality risks and deliver on commitments.
Provide a high level of support and collaboration with operational partners to facilitate effective environmental and compliance management.
Provide a high level of support and in all matters relating to air quality and noise schedules of the Environmental Authority.
Manage the AQC centre to achieve compliance with the Environmental Authority and minimise operational impacts through ing meteorological knowledge and control strategies for operational emissions.
Develop, review and deliver technical air quality reports to Glencore and regulators
Assess skills gaps and facilitate training programs to upskill the Air Quality Controllers, ensuring they remain proficient in monitoring techniques, incident investigation, and system operations.
Mentor team members to foster professional growth and create a positive culture that aligns with the Glencore vision and values.
Oversee the maintenance and optimisation of air quality monitoring equipment, forecasting models, and data management systems.
Drive AQC preliminary incident investigations and assist in implementation of corrective actions.
Ensure timely and adequate rostering of controllers to ensure continued AQC operation.
