Supervisor works under the general direction of the Manager, supports with planning, leadership, and daily operations of Environmental Services (ES). Our work is done in areas where patients, staff and visitors are present and involves frequent interactions with staff, clients, and patients. ES provides a 24/7 service to ensure cleaning and disinfecting of discharged and occupied patient rooms, clinical and non-clinical spaces, and medical equipment. ES is integral to both preventing infections from spreading and reducing hospital acquired infections and to patient flow by providing responsive cleaning of patient rooms on their transfers and discharges. The supervisor position requires ongoing flexibility of hours worked. Weekend support is required on a rotational basis (approximately one in every three to four weekends). Candidates who express interest in an increased weekend schedule (such as every other weekend or every weekend) may be considered.
Description:
The position is responsible and accountable for: Human Resource management (recruitment, retention, probationary and annual performance reviews, and performance management). Ensure that appropriate quality and safety measures are in place and are compatible with IPC and WHS industry and Provincial standards. Making unit-level decisions and having direct leadership responsibility for contributing to the achievement of all goals of LES. Assisting in monitoring, planning and organization Housekeeping demands, setting staffing levels, development of work routines and maintaining accurate records within LES. The supervisor promotes leadership in the identification of environmental services and assists in recommending and implementing solutions to those issues. Meets regularly with clinical customers to maintain sound relationships, reviews performance and manages escalated issues. Ensures the Manager as appropriate are informed of and aware of significant events and/or activities within facilities. The Supervisor is also responsible for: Implementation of the waste management program and practices. Ensuring Quality Audits are conducted at the specified frequency and that recommendations and follow up actions are taken. Overseeing the cleaning of facility furnishings and any required project work, as well as shared patient clinical equipment, and any central pooled items.
