Description

The Supervisor of Behavioral Health Therapy will provide direct clinical and administrative supervision to behavioral health therapists. As appropriate, provide clinical outpatient treatment designed to service patients with a mental health diagnosis who meet dimensions for outpatient and/or partial hospitalization treatment criteria. This position provides intensive behavioral health services via Mobile Therapy for children and families with trauma, ages 6 weeks-12 years, in their home, school, and community environments.
The Matilda H. Theiss Child Development Center is the cornerstone of early childhood mental health services at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. For over 30 years, Matilda Theiss has supported person-centered, family-focused, positive approaches — as well as individualized models of care — across a continuum of services. This is a partial travel position based out of South Side and works Monday through Friday, mostly daylight hours with some flexibility to work some evening hours per department need.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight and Assessments: Conduct and document assessments, create treatment plans, and assess patient needs for outpatient/partial hospitalization programs.
  • Therapy and Documentation: Provide individual and group therapy, participate in team meetings, and complete same-day clinical documentation.
  • Service Authorization: Provide clinical information for service authorization and review cases with the Director.
  • Additional Services: Assess and refer patients to other care levels or community programs as needed.
  • Productivity and Quality Assurance: Maintain daily productivity records and participate in quality assurance activities.
  • Team Management: Direct and assign work to therapists, conduct performance reviews, and enforce policies.
  • Operational Support: Recruit new employees, coordinate admissions, and supervise daily clinical activities.
  • Issue Management: Alert management of issues and assume leadership in the Director’s absence.
  • Training and Supervision: Collaborate on training needs assessments, provide staff training, and supervise therapists, incorporating evidence-based treatment.
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Education in school counseling, or related field required.
  • Five years of clinical experience diagnosing and treating behavioral and psychiatric conditions required.
  • Two years of demonstrated progressive leadership experience required.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and assessment process, as well as application of current version of the DSM required.
