Description:
POSITION TITLE: Supervisor - Afghan Support and Investment Program (ASIP)
DEPARTMENT: Refugee Services
REPORTS TO: ASIP Program Manager
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt FTE
WORK SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. .
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in management, social work, business, human services or related field or equivalent experience
- Two years experience in a supervisor or leadership role
- Demonstrated knowledge and competency to fulfill the identified duties associated with this position
- Possess strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrate a strong sense of cultural diversity sensitivity
- Experience in a non-profit, social service and/or resettlement organization (preferred)
- Bi-lingual in English and one other language spoken by refugees (preferred)
- Knowledge of refugee populations or US resettlement program
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as contracts, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, policies and procedure manuals, and government regulations
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients or employees of the agency
- Ability to interact well with refugees, volunteers and the general public as needed
- Ability to facilitate a positive work culture
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide three-digit numbers accurately using a calculator
- Ability to follow a program budget
- Ability to use, read and send e-mail and use other outlook functions (calendar and task)
- Intermediate Ability to use Word Excel and Access
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must possess a valid California Drivers License and automobile insurance in compliance with agency requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and distance vision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to an office environment with a busy flow of clients where the noise level is usually moderate. Ability to travel to various locations may be required.

Responsibilities:
- Assure the policies and protocols pertaining to case management of social services on behalf of the client base are fully implemented
- Participate actively in department and/or agency management meetings, as needed
- Assist the Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager in program development, supervision, and management
- Comply with all policies and protocols of the agency, department, and program
- Provide orientation and training to new staff regarding program and agency standards, scope of work, job duties and other essential information
- Assign and monitor staff in case management activities
- Motivate and enable personnel to perform up to the highest professional standards
- Mentor staff to obtain skills needed to be successful
- Manage and monitor application workflow and assign workload to Intake Specialists, Case Specialists, and Housing Navigation Specialists
- Work with Program Manager on final approval/denial decisions for all applications
- Provide backup to other supervisors when necessary
- Engage in problem-solving and conflict resolution of program and personnel issues that diminish the effectiveness of service delivery
- Cooperate fully with agency initiatives and inter-program/inter-department events and efforts
- Support the Assistant Program Manager with leadership needs as identified by the Program Manager and Director
- Review and approve applications for rental and utility assistance for clients eligible under the ASIP program
- Review and approve expense requests incurred by the program for travel, parking, and other costs
