QUALIFICATIONS:

· Knowledge of Ontario’s emergency health services system including governance, administration and operations; the role, functions and services of Emergency Health Program Management and Delivery Branch, Central Ambulance Com Knowledge of Ontario’s emergency health services system including governance, administration and operations; the role, functions and services of Emergency Health Program Management and Delivery Branch, Central Ambulance Communications Centre, land and air ambulance functions, communication services delivery, standard operating practices, automation, systems integration, communicator training, policies, standards, guidelines and relevant legislation
· Post-secondary diploma/certificate in related field or experience in management role; Demonstrated leader experience.
· Ministry of Health Ambulance Communications Officer certificate.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

· Experience developing policies and procedures, including excellent written and oral communication skills.
· Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment including experience in Excel, Word and Outlook.
· Proven ability to lead a multidisciplinary team in a fast paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

If so, Sault Area Hospital is currently recruiting a temporary Supervisor for our Central Ambulance Communication Centre to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the CACC Manager, the CACC Supervisor plans, manages and coordinates day to day operations of the Sault Ste. Marie Central Ambulance Communications Centre (CACC) which is one of 23 provincial communications centers in Ontario which are the initial access point to Ontario’s emergency health services system for many victims of illness or injury. CACC’s utilize state of the art computer aided dispatch (CAD), computer-based telephones, radios and geographic information tools, vehicle location tools and audio logging equipment. CACC’s are mission critical operations that function 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The position also provides support to the CACC Manager and acts for the CACC Manager during absences.

DUTIES:

  1. Assists in supporting processes improvement initiatives and looks for opportunities to improve processes.

  19. Develops, implements and conducts orientation, training and departmental education.
  20. Makes resources available to support strategic initiatives, operational projects and process improvements.
  21. Manages shift to shift utilization of resources (human and material) in the department, including assessing workload of team and ensuring staff are taking required breaks
  22. Contributes to department budget development, execution and monthly variance actions.
  23. Manages conflict and resolution amongst front line staff.
  24. Coaches and develops direct reports
  25. Accountable for the occupational health and safety of the employees within their respective area.
  26. Ensures knowledge of collective agreements, adherence as required and ongoing collaboration with union partners to foster strong labour relations and positive relationships.
